  • Author Events
Thu, 03/11/2010 - 7:00pm
The Bookcase is pleased to welcome  Sally Kerry Edstrom to our store on Thursday, March 11 at 7:00 p.m.

Ms. Edstrom will be here to read from, discuss, and sign copies of her book Got Up Done Morning Work.

Thejourney began in 1901 and ended in 2007. The journal ofeighteen-year-old Minnie Rose Morgan was retraced by her granddaughterSally and great-great-granddaughter Amanda. It started with them takinga four day covered wagon trek in Nebraska. With the temperature overone hundred degrees and lots of dust, the appreciated what "got up donemorning work" really meant. Retracing Minnie's journal was full ofsurprises as they wondered what landmarks, if any, still survived afterone hundred years.

It's not crap. Just because

Submitted by alicesmile on Fri, 07/16/2010 - 4:07am.

It's not crap. Just because they took a break one night, doesn't mean it's not there 117-301 The scoul on Katie Couric's face on the Today Show, the day after Bush, was re-elected said it all. That's when I turned it off for good. If you truly care about and want a better Louisiana, 646-203 you need to be behind the governor 1K0-002 Why do you hate him? Are you jealous of what he has accomplished in his life? Try to ignore the "R" behind his name. You probably can't. Maybe you want to see him fail. The crap you speak of is where our country is headed 4A0-103 That's crap, baby!

Gear West & The Bookcase welcome Christopher McDougall

Born to RunGear West and The Bookcase are pleased to welcome Christopher McDougall, author of the bestselling book Born to Run.

The event will be on Wednesday, September 15 at 6:30 in the evening at Gear West in Long Lake (1786 West Wayzata Boulevard).

McDougall traveled to Mexico's Copper Canyon to discover the running secrets of the Tarahumara Indians. For centuries, the Tarahumara have practiced techniques that allow them to run hundreds of miles without rest. How do they do it? That's exactly what McDougall wanted to know.

Part cultural anthropology mixed with personal memoir and the history of running,Born to Run is "hilariously funny, weird, and nonstop fun to read. Runners can sink their teeth into it," says Bill Rodgers, a four-time winner of the Boston Marathon.

Christopher McDougall is a former war correspondent for the Associated Press and is now a contributing editor for Men's Health. A three-time National Magazine Award finalist, he has written for Esquire, The New York Times Magazine,Outside, Men's Journal, and New York. He does his own running among the Amish farms around his home in rural Pennsylvania.

Tickets are $5.00, and are available at either Gear West or The Bookcase.

This is an event that you won't want to miss!
